Located in northern Oman, Nakhal is best known for its impressive fort set dramatically against the backdrop of the Hajar Mountains. Originally built centuries ago and later expanded, the fort showcases traditional Omani architecture and offers sweeping views of the surrounding palm groves and rugged landscapes. Inside, restored rooms and exhibits give insight into the region’s history and way of life.

The town is also home to natural hot springs, a popular place for both locals and visitors to relax. Its fertile lands, nourished by ancient irrigation systems, support date palms and agriculture, adding to the town’s appeal. For travelers, Nakhal provides a blend of heritage, natural beauty, and Omani culture within a scenic mountain setting.

This port capital is situated between ocean and mountains, and boasts lovely beaches, great diving sites (watch for turtles!), 16th-century forts, and the impressive Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, which can hold 20,000 people.

Salalah stands out with its rare blend of desert and tropical appeal. Unlike much of the Arabian Peninsula, this coastal city is transformed by the seasonal Khareef (monsoon), turning the landscape lush and green between June and September.
